Worldbuilding

I always start with moodboards to help me visualize the world the characters will be inhabiting. I wanted Gyda's kingdom of Alfjora to be evocative of Old Norse settlements, while also capturing a whimsical, fairytale feel. With a near constant rainy and foggy atmosphere, I took inspiration from Scandinavian landscapes and the various port cities found around the British Isles and New England. Alfjora is a coastal settlement, known all around for its lively fishing market - an important detail as it plays into the mystery that sets up the story.
